Department of Accounting The Department of Accounting aims to enhance the employability of its graduates by providing top class education as well as establishing strong links with local and international professional bodies such as the ACCA, CIMA, CPA Australia, ICAEW and AAA (Emirates). This ensures that the curriculum of the UoS Accounting program is in line with those of top professional bodies. This increases the credibility and employability of our graduates in the job marketplace. 8 Department of Finance and Economics The Department of Finance and Economics offers a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Students in the department can also take two minors either in finance or economics. The Department of Finance and Economics strives to hire and retain high caliber faculty with expertise in teaching and research. All our programs are accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. They may also pursue careers in academia, private and government sectors, or international organizations. 12 Department of Management The Department of Management is committed to providing high quality intellectually challenging educational programs to prepare a new generation of leaders who will be able to contribute to their communities and positively impact the global economy. Presently, the Department offers two bachelor’s degrees, i.e., Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (with three concentrations: Management, Marketing, and Human Resource Management) and Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management, to meet societal and market demands for talented and well-equipped future workforce. All programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), signifying the quality of our academic program offerings at par at the world standing. Moving forward, the Department is working closely with professional certification bodies to certify our programs, meeting yet another quality standard of achievements and enhancing the employability of our graduates. Our courses are designed to help learners build and develop four key competencies – creativity and originality, leadership and societal impact, critical analysis and problem solving, and resilience and adaptability – through various innovative teaching and learning methods. Courses related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability are already on offer, and we are also moving toward offering more analytical courses to be in sync with the requirements of the contemporary business world. In addition to classroom instructions, our learners are required to complete a 16-week internship to bridge theory and practice. The EMBA at UOS is designed to be as rewarding as it is rigorous, providing ample opportunity for personal development and professional growth in an interactive learning and teaching environment. The discourse in the EMBA classroom reflects a participative process of inquiry and insight, guided by our highly qualified faculty. The overall goal of the EMBA is to deepen and broaden the students’ core managerial competencies to further enhance their professional growth. Master of Business Administration The Masters of Business Administration Program is designed to deliver a highly structured and solid program to students who have already attained a Bachelor degree, wish to further advance in their business education, and enables them to progress in their professional roles. This program is unique in its structure and the two distinguished features for our students as they have the opportunity to complete their MBA by doing coursework and thesis or doing coursework only. Master of Business Analytics The Master of Business Analytics program is jointly offered by the College of Business Administration and the College of Computing and Informatics and is designed to equip and prepare students to apply the tools of modern data science and to deal with large data sets. The students through learning various data analysis techniques and methods will become effective and efficient decision-makers in their academic or other professional careers. Students will be able to apply data-driven approaches to solve business challenges in different business areas and meet organizational goals and objectives. Doctor of Business Administration The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) program is designed for executives seeking to enrich their professional experience with advanced research skills. The DBA program is divided into two stages: (a) coursework, and (b) research. In the first two years, doctoral students take six doctoral-level core courses that provide an overview of theory and research techniques and two advanced doctoral seminars focusing on special topics such as Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, Performance Management in Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Analytics, and Corporate Finance. Students also attend data analytics software and research design seminars. Throughout the research stage, doctoral candidates work closely with their thesis advisors. As part of this research journey, doctoral candidates are expected to publish two papers in peer-reviewed journals. The DBA program equips its graduates with the skills needed to improve decision-making, overcome business challenges, and make a beneficial impact on industry and the public sector. In addition, the DBA graduates are prepared to pursue an academic career with the support of the College’s research community. Upon graduation, students should be able to deeply understand and relate key concepts, theories, issues, and debates in relevant business research and domain knowledge, evaluate and critically review research at the forefront of the discipline or professional practice of interest.
